Q. Can I use Coteka by myself?
Yes. You can start recording expenses by yourself first. When you are ready, you can invite your partner later.
Q. How do I invite my partner?
Copy the invitation link from the Settings screen and send it to your partner. Your partner can join by opening the link or by pasting it into "Settings -> Join with invitation link".
Q. Can I choose how payments are split?
Yes. You can choose "Equal split" or "Net income ratio". You can also choose who pays any rounding difference when the amount cannot be split evenly. Individual shares can be adjusted manually.
Q. How do settlements work?
The calendar screen automatically shows the unsettled amount, such as "Your partner owes you ...". After the actual payment is made, record it from "Add -> Settlement" to reset the balance.
Q. I want to change the currency.
The currency is fixed when the group is created and cannot be changed later. To change it, reset the group from "Settings -> Leave group" and start over. This operation deletes the group's data.
Q. What about monthly fixed costs such as rent or utilities?
You can register them from the "Add -> Recurring payment" tab. They will be counted automatically every month.
Q. Can I change the language or dark mode?
Yes. You can change them at any time from the Settings screen.
Q. Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use Coteka right away without signing in.
Q. I want to delete my data.
You can delete the group and all of its data from "Settings -> Leave group".
Q. How can I transfer my data when changing devices?
